Firefighters battle building blaze in Rockhampton City

Firefighters battled a building fire in a Central Queensland CBD, where all occupants were evacuated. VIDEO.

Firefighters were on scene at a building fire in Rockhampton CBD on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the fire at a building on Bolsover Street about 9.30am.

The building is understood to have been the QBuild offices.

A spokesman for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said three crews were on scene and that there was a fire in one of the rooms of the first floor of the building.

The spokesman said the building was evacuated and that all persons were accounted for.

Firefighters entered the building in breathing apparatus.

The QFES spokesman said the fire was extinguished just before 10am.

“There was an appliance that had been on fire,” he said.

The spokesman said ventilation was required as smoke had spread to other levels of the building.

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service were also on scene.

Ergon were on scene to isolate power to the building.

The QFES spokesman said the building was handed back to site management just after 11am.
