A Central Queensland man has vowed to buy his wife any diamond ring she wants after finding out he had won an “unbelievable” $950,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto.
The man from Yeppoon held one of the 21 division one winning entries in Saturday draw, pocketing $952,380.96.
He is the third winner to hail from the Capricorn Coast in the last two months.
His win follows an Emu Park couple who held one of nine division one winning entries in the Saturday Gold Lotto on June 15, pocketing $541,052.71.
It also follows a Yeppoon woman who held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life drawn on June 12, which was $4.8 million, paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The Yeppoon man said he didn’t know what to do or say when an official from The Lott called to confirm his prize.
“I just won Gold Lotto? Are you serious?” the man said.
“I’m f–ing shaking.
“Punch me, I’m dreaming.
“You’ve got the best job in the world. You don’t know how much this changes our lives. It’s unbelievable.
“It just sets us up. This sort of thing doesn’t happen to people like me and my wife. Usually, just when you feel like you’re getting ahead, something comes along and you’re knocked back a bit.
“I can’t believe it.”
He said he was going to give his wife any diamond ring she wanted.
“She’s going to get a big rock,” he said.
“We’ll also share the prize with our kids and pay off the mortgage.
“You wouldn’t believe how much this means to us.”
The man purchased his winning 36-game QuickPick via The Lott app.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4489 on 27 July 2024 were 4, 37, 45, 27, 11 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 10.
Across Australia, there were 21 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4489 – eight in Victoria, five in New South Wales, four in Queensland and two each in South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 252 so far in 2024.
