Emu Park couple win $540,000 in Saturday Gold Lotto draw

An Aussie couple is in disbelief after finding out they had won a “life-changing” amount in Gold Lotto.

A couple from Emu Park has won $540,000 in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

A Central Queensland couple were in disbelief after finding out they had won a “life-changing” $540,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto.

The couple from Emu Park held one of nine division one winning entries in the Saturday draw, pocketing $541,052.71.

Their win follows a Yeppoon woman who held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life drawn on Wednesday, which was $4.8 million, paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

The Emu Park couple took some convincing that they had won when an official from The Lott called to confirm their prize.

“Are you bullsh*tting me?” the husband said.

“Mate, you’re a champion.

“Five hundred and forty-one thousand. If you lived nearby, I’d shout you a beer.

‘IT JUST MEANS WE CAN BREATHE A LITTLE EASIER’

“You’ve made my day. I’m shocked. Thank you. I don’t know what to say.”

When asked how they might enjoy their prize, the couple shared they were too stunned to make any immediate plans but described the win as “life-changing”.

“It just means we can breathe a little easier,” the husband said.

“It gives us a nest egg for our retirement. It’s life-changing.”

The couple purchased their winning marked 10-game entry at Emu Park Newsagency.

‘WE HOPE TO SELL MANY MORE IN THE FUTURE’

Emu Park Newsagency owner Sudheer Reddy said he was delighted his outlet had helped make someone’s dreams come true.

“Our customers are thrilled to learn we’ve sold a division one winning ticket and are hopeful next time it’ll be them,” he said.

“We’d love to congratulate our division one winner and hope all their dreams are fulfilled. All the best for the future.

“We feel honoured to have sold a division one winning ticket, and hope to sell many more in the future.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4477 were 34, 40, 12, 23, 36 and 38, while the supplementary numbers were 8 and 30.

Across Australia, there were nine division one winning entries – three each in Queensland and Victoria, two in New South Wales and one in South Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 399 so far in 2024.
