A 10-year-old-boy has been transferred to the Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital in a stable condition after suffering “significant burns’ at a Central Queensland property on December 14.

Multiple emergency crews including a rescue chopper were called to a private property on Apis Creek Road, Duaringa, about 10.40am.

“At this stage, we’ve been informed a primary school-aged boy has significant burns to (his) face, leg and arms,” a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

“We’ve got multiple crews on the way, and we’ve activated a helicopter, so it’s on its way also.”

The QAS spokeswoman said it was reported the boy had been trying to burn wood.

In an update at 2.20pm on December 14, the QAS spokeswoman said the boy had been flown to Rockhampton Hospital.

“(They are) potentially life-threatening burns,” she said.

A CapRescue spokeswoman said the helicopter was able to land in the front yard of the property where the onboard medical team provided treatment to stabilise the boy for the flight to hospital.

She said the boy’s mother was on board for that flight.
