Two women have been taken to hospital in the past 24 hours for snake bites in the Gladstone region.

Queensland Ambulance Service reports the two women were bitten about 12 hours apart – one at Rosedale and the other at Roundhill.

QAS transported a woman in her 5os in a stable condition to the Bundaberg Hospital after being bitten on an ankle at Rosedale about 7am today.

The service transported a woman in her 30s in a stable condition to Bundaberg Hospital with a snake bite on a leg about 7.25pm yesterday.

These reports come after a 16-year-old boy died after being bitten by a brown snake last year and two other people were bitten by snakes in the Gladstone region earlier this month.

Beau Horan was bitten by a brown snake on the foot on Monday, November 25 at his family home in Wurdong Heights, south of Gladstone.

Beau’s mother, Bek Eddy, explained that he was helping around the house in preparation for a family trip when he and his sister Jodie-Lee, 18, spotted a juvenile eastern brown snake moving away from them.

“From what we understand he didn’t realise he had been bitten because the bite felt more like a scratch – we had no idea that was what an eastern brown snake bite felt like,” Mrs Eddy explained.

About 15 minutes later Beau mentioned to his family he was feeling unwell before he collapsed to the floor. He was rushed to Gladstone Hospital and was later flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a CareFlight helicopter.

Beau spent Tuesday and Wednesday on life support before he tragically passed away.

A female was taken to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition after a reported snake bite on January 4 about 6am.

A man in his 60s from East End was reportedly bitten on the finger by a snake about 7.10pm on January 3.

He was taken to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition.
