To a lot of households she is known as Lucky’s mum in hit children’s cartoon Bluey, the NSW Blues-loving Janelle, but Beef Australia holds a special place in Anna Daniels’ heart.
The Rockhampton-born author, comedian and radio producer was back in her hometown for Beef Australia 2024 on Wednesday.
Ms Daniels was a guest speaker at the Brahman Beef Dinner on Tuesday night before her appearance at the Australian Brahman Breeders’ Association site the following day.
“I jumped at the opportunity, I love getting up here and seeing the family as well,” the woman whose voice is enjoyed by kids across the globe said.
“I love this week, I love seeing the town come alive, I love seeing people walking around everywhere and cars on the street, shops are full.
“It’s just such a huge event now that everyone in Rocky should be proud of.”
During the day Ms Daniels met Bluey fans of all ages who were excited to learn they were talking to ‘Lucky’s mum’.
“Bluey has been such an amazing, surprising joy for me, and to be able to tell little kids and mention I’m in Bluey has been fantastic,” she said.
“You see their eyes light up and I think it’s great, I’m from Rocky so I think it’s lovely for little kids in Rocky to see you can come from anywhere and do these fun things.”
During her visit to Beef Australia Ms Daniels also signed copies of her debut novel Girl in Between, which was released in 2018 and shortlisted for the Vogel Awards.
The book is about two best friends who go back to Rockhampton trying to sort their lives out.
“It’s very Central Queensland, it’s got lots of recognisable locations,” she said.
“It was kind of like a love letter to Rocky, I think. I love Rocky and it’s such a familiar, beautiful town to me and to share Rocky in a fictional setting was wonderful.”
Ms Daniels shared a message of encouragement to locals looking to the future.
“There’s nothing stopping you achieving what you want to do if you’re from Rocky,” she said.
