From disco to dive to gambling den the Whitsunday Hotel has many incarnations - and one new part of it will be a toy shop.
Ally Blines, from Let The Children Play across the road, told The Daily Mercury she will be pulling up stumps and moving across to the new space in July.
"It'll be about 100sq m than we have now, it's the main reason we're moving,” she said.
And businesswoman Ms Blines is definitely in need of space, with toys spilling off her shelves and out into the walk-ways - she definitely knows it's time to size up to cater for the community.
"We get new stock in and we don't have the room to display it, and that's what we're about, we're about bringing new things to town,” Ms Blines said.
She will also be looking to bring back craft and other activities when they move into the bigger space.
"We'll be moving during July, we haven't set a firm date yet but we're hoping to be in by the last week of July and we'll be the first ones (of the hotel's new tenants) to open,” she said.
The new owners have a strong interest in leasing the place and contributing towards the gentrification of town, according to Ms Blines.
"They're pretty confident of having tenants by June and opening through to the end of the year, she said.
"They're giving us a lot of input in floor coverings and certainly involved us a lot in the fit out process.”
"The building is proving to be quite interesting, everyone remembers it as a night club, a lounge bar with pokies and really low ceilings.”
The Daily Mercury understands that there is to be an eatery on the corner of Victoria St. Rumours of a craft beer outlet, a cafe and another retail space have been flying around however according to realcommercial.com.au there are two spaces still available.
