THE big blue pole house perched at the top of Sunrise Place has been a recording studio and featured in a television show, but most importantly, for the past 10 years, it has been 'home' for the Scholte family.
The fairytale chapter there is over, however, for Brett, Kristie and their children Mikaela and Brock, with the property now listed for sale for offers over $649,000.
Handing over the keys to the property will be hard, as the family have shaped it into their dream home.
Extensive renovations were carried out in 2014 and included a new rumpus area and double garage, the reconfiguration of the bathroom and toilet and even the addition of a front entrance which previously didn't exist.
The work scored builder Don Woods and designer Tamica Lewis of Tempus Design Studio regional and state awards which led to the property being featured on Foxtel's Dream Home Ideas.
The renovations have made for a comfortable living environment for the family, with Kristie admitting she hardly leaves the back deck on weekends.
"The beach location has been amazing. Because its is encased by the verandas, you can't really see that you are in suburbia, it's like you're on Hamilton Island," she said.
While she loves the house, Kristie said with the kids growing up and moving on, it had just become too big and tasked First National Mackay agent Scott Braithwaite with finding a buyer who will love it as much as her family.
The blue house is open for inspection 10-10.30am Saturday.
