Police are calling for anyone with information over a break-in at a Mackay airfield using a stolen quad bike that had been removed from the hangar two days earlier.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton said police were also investigating if there were any links to other offences committed in the same general area in the past two weeks.
Offenders gained entry to the Palmyra airfield about 11.30pm Wednesday night and forced their way into multiple hangers and sheds.
Senior Sergeant Eaton said there was also an unsuccessful attempt to break into a safe.
During this, one of the site’s owners disturbed the offenders, who fled in a motor vehicle and a stolen quad bike.
Senior Sergeant Eaton said the vehicle was found burnt out underneath the Mackay Ring Road underpass at Cowleys Rd some hours later.
He said the quad bike involved – a CF Moto4000 – had been stolen from the hangar two days earlier.
Senior Sergeant Eaton said police were appealing to anyone with information about the offending and the quad bike.
