A 24-year-old has been caught drink-driving at more than 20km an hour over the speed limit on the Peak Downs Highway.
Police prosecutor Matt Saunders said officers pulled over a Toyota on the highway in Strathfield west of Nebo at 7.14pm on July 6.
Mr Saunders said officers had clocked the driver, Jack Graham Mazlin, travelling at 121km/hr.
He said they gave Mazlin a breath test before taking him back to the Nebo Police Station where he returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.066.
Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday heard the Charters Towers region man had pleaded guilty to disobeying the speed limit and driving over the general alcohol limit.
Solicitor Steven Hayles of Macrossan and Amiet said Mazlin had entered pleas at the first opportunity and had no previous history of a like nature.
Magistrate Damian Dwyer said Mazlin’s BAC showed he had made an “error of judgment” and he took greater issue with his speeding.
Mazlin was fined $1000 and his licence was disqualified for six weeks.
Mr Dwyer issued Mazlin a restricted driver’s licence allowing him to travel to work and back home via the most direct route as a refusal would cause “extreme hardship”.
A conviction was not recorded.
