A young man who allegedly fled a plainclothes cop while driving with a disqualified licence was also charged with menacing behaviour over Snapchat.

Police will allege Isaac Allan Comber fled a senior sergeant who was ordering him to stop on Shakespeare Street in Mackay on April 28.

Mackay Magistrate Damian Dwyer read out the charges when Mr Comber faced Mackay Magistrates Court this week.

“On the February 19, 2024 at Mackay Harbour, you used a carriage service, namely Snapchat, in such a way that a reasonable person would regard that as menacing, harassing or offensive,” Mr Dwyer said.

Mr Comber was charged with using a carriage service to menace or harass, dangerous driving, police evasion, and unlicensed driving.

“Now, Mr Comber, you’re in a little bit of a hole here,” Mr Dwyer remarked.

The matter was adjourned until June 5 for Mr Comber to get legal representation.

He remains on bail.
