Beloved Mackay dinner and theatre venue Fezzyrays is shutting down.
The group known for hosting extravagant theatre shows, comedy nights, pirate shows and cocktail dinners posted to their social media on Wednesday with the words ‘permanently closed’.
The owners told the Daily Mercury changing life circumstances played a role in the decision to shut, but they didn’t rule out potential pop-up performances in the future.
An archived version of their website advertised their “immersive” pirates and platters show as an “unforgettable blend of entertainment and dining perfect for families, friends and seafarers at heart”.
The group called their cabaret nights a “celebration of artistic expression, offering a mesmerising experience that defines entertainment in Mackay”.
One commenter on Facebook said Fezzyrays would be “dearly missed”.
“The shows were amazing, the food was excellent and the talent always shone brilliantly! I can’t wait to see what’s next. Enjoy the break… for now!.”
