For NRLW icon Millie Elliott, her involvement in a series of all-abilities clinics, called the Game Changer Clinics, across Queensland, Victoria and NSW is about more than a two-hour session and a photo op.

Elliott, a four-time NRLW premiership player with Sydney Roosters, Newcastle Knights and Brisbane Broncos, revealed the deeply personal connection she has with the all-abilities community.

“My little sister Hannah has down syndrome, and my brother-in-law James has autism,” Elliott said.

“Coming from a regional and rural area myself, it’s important to me to be able to come to these downs and provide these opportunities to locals who may not get the same kind of support as those in metro areas.”

Elliott hails from Cobargo, a small town of less than 1000 people in south east NSW, and has an extensive rugby league background with her father David Boyle, brother Morgan Boyle, uncle Jason Croker and cousin Lachlan Croker all playing in the NRL.

She said sport was something that bound her family and community together and was the “bridge” that enabled people with disabilities to connect to the broader community.

“A two-hour clinic like this, it gives these people a chance to be themselves,” she said.

“A free event like this wouldn’t be possible without the support offered to us by Westpac who backed the program.”

The Game Changer Clinic will travel to a host of regional centres in Queensland and beyond over the next several weeks.
