Helicopter flies man to hospital after Hamilton Island stingray attack

Paradise stung for one man who had to be flown to Mackay Base Hospital after a nasty run in with a marine creature in the Whitsundays.

Paramedics and the RACQ CQ rescue helicopter responded to Hamilton Island on Saturday June 29 after it was reported that a man had suffered a stingray sting.

The man was transported to Hamilton Island by boat and was assessed by paramedics on the scene.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman has confirmed that the man had suffered an injured related to a stingray barb coming into contact with his arm.

The patient was then flown from Hamilton Island to the Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition and is currently receiving treatment.
