Fire investigators will be called after part of a Gargett property was severely damaged in a fire.

Emergency services including five fire crews were called to the Owens Creek Rd address following reports of a car and garage on fire.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the call came in about 5.20pm Saturday.

Fire crews arrived on scene about 5.30pm and began battling the blaze which had spread to parts of the home.

All occupants were out of the home.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said most of the fire was contained to the garage, which was severely damaged in the blaze.

The fire was out by 6.30pm with crews dampening down and checking for hotspots.

The property was handed back to the owners about 7pm.

The spokeswoman said it was unknown where the fire began and investigators had been called to inspect the property.
