Firefighters battle blaze at the Marian Sugar Mill

A major Mackay region sugar mill has been evacuated after a fire broke out on its top floor.
Nine fire crew were called to the Marian Sugar Mill on Anzac Ave, West of Mackay at 3.10pm with reports of large black plumes of smoke coming out of the top level of the building, about 15m above ground.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said everyone in the mill had been evacuated by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire was out shortly before 6pm.
The Marian Mill is considered the largest sugar mill in the Mackay Region.
