The coveted Legends on the Lawn event is back and more than 7000 people are expected to converge and listen to a stellar line up of Aussie music icons.

The one-day concert will take place at Mackay’s Great Barrier Reef Arena this year’s legends include fabled rockers Jet, the ageless Icehouse, as well as Pete Murray, Jon Stevens, Baby Animals, 1927 and Bachelor Girl. See playing times below.

Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson said he was proud to support the event.

“Great Barrier Reef Arena has proven itself as a premier venue, capable of hosting large-scale events that attract thousands of visitors and significantly boost our local economy,” Mr Williamson said.

He also threw his support behind the stage two plans of the Arena’s redevelopment.

“The Stage 2 expansion is not only a strategic investment in our region’s infrastructure but also a catalyst for future growth and prosperity,” he said.

“It will enable us to attract even more high-profile events, enhancing our community’s cultural and social fabric.

“We are committed to ensuring that Mackay continues to thrive as a hub for major events and community activities.”

The past two Legends on the Lawn concerts have created more than 700 jobs and injected more than $3m into the Mackay economy, with 30 per cent of the attendees from outside Mackay.

Event promoter Josh Jones from Queensland Festivals and Events also endorsed GBRA’s capability to host major events.

“The arena stands out compared to other regional venues due to its facilities, scenic location, and community-focused approached,” Mr Jones said.

“The success of events like ours highlights the incredible economic and social benefits major events bring to the Mackay Whitsunday region.”

Patrons are encouraged to bring a camp chair or picnic rug to the event – you can also bring sealed still bottled water, snack foods and a non professional camera.

A large range of food for purchase and public bar will also be available. There is a no pass out policy, so anyone going is urged to prepare for the full day.

Onsite parking is available free of charge, with a short walk to the entry gates. There will also be a temporary taxi rank, as well as a dedicated drop off/pick up zone near the venue.
