Two people were rushed to hospital after a fire tore through a Northern Beaches home, the majority of internal damage coming from smoke.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fire inside a Rural View home on Dawson Blvd at approximately 12.45pm.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said three crews arrived to find the house fully involved in smoke.
Police closed the street and the fire was extinguished by 1pm.
Constable Kate Carrell said the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault which left “massive damage”.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics assessed two of the house’s occupants who complained of smoke inhalation.
They were taken to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition.
The fire did not appear suspicious but police are on the scene “doing further checks”, according to a spokesman.
At the time of writing fire crews remain at the house searching for hotspots and venting the structure.
Fire investigators will attend the site.
