Golf and bubbles bring 'non-players' to the green
Gayndah Golf Club is planning more ladies' events after the success of its Golf and Bubbles event at the weekend.

GOLF: After calling for players and non-players alike to drag out their clubs for a day with the ladies, Gayndah Golf Club's Golf and Bubbles event at the weekend saw women of all skill levels hitting the green.
Gayndah Golf Club's Di Baker said the event was enjoyed, with many novelty prizes, a delicious lunch and bubbles to boot.
"The ladies' day on Saturday was very well attended and all who participated enjoyed themselves,” she said.
"The novelty events and fun prizes were popular and it was really good to see such a good number of non-players out on the course.”
The success of the event has cemented ideas of more ladies' events to be held from early next year, and Baker encouraged the non-players to return for more fun days.
"Come and have a hit with us in the Ambrose events, and towards the end of the year when we start playing 9-hole competitions,” Baker said.
"You are all most welcome.
"We also will try and organise a coaching clinic before some of these events.”
Despite the focus being on fun, the day didn't go without some healthy competition.
"Well done to Sally Jolly and her partner winning the Ambrose section of the day,” Baker said.
A cross country event was also held on Sunday afternoon, after Gayndah's Armistice Day commemoration, and 11 players took to the green.
"The enjoyable event was well attended with Jason McCosker and Kirk Jolly proving adept at attacking the course from different angles,” baker said.
"Thanks to greenkeeper Jim Myers for setting it all up.”
McCosker and Jolly finished the afternoon on 26.5 nett, while Shaun Allen, Carlos Mendoza and Nicole Chapman weren't far behind on 26.9 nett.
Next Saturday Gayndah Golf Club will host the November Monthly Medal starting at 12.30pm.
It's the last chance to be a contender in the Monthly Medal final later in the year, and Baker said players should get practising.
Amendments are to be made to the club's calendar in December.
