Teen boy fighting for life after car into tree at Wolvi

Police are calling for witnesses after a teen boy, who was the passenger in a vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries when it rolled and hit a tree in the Gympie region. UPDATE

A teenage boy is fighting for his life after a vehicle rolled and hit a tree in the Gympie region.

Police say a red Mazda was travelling along Neusavale Rd about 10pm on Friday at Wolvi when it left the road and hit a tree, prompting a large emergency response.

It is understood the vehicle had been going around a bend when it left the road and rolled, and while upside down hit a tree.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Araluen boy, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening-injuries. It is understood he remains in a critical condition

The driver, a 17-year-old Gympie boy, was not injured, however was taken to Gympie hospital in a stable condition.

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash unit is investigating the incident, and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
