The expected sentencing of a Jones Hill woman for a string of fraud charges was put on hold on Tuesday as childbirth sent her to the Gympie Hospital instead, a court has heard.
Tayla Brooke Marshall, 24, was expected to face Gympie Magistrates Court for a long plea hearing over the charges which included 11 counts of fraud, four counts of breaching bail, contravening an order to provide access to an electronic device, and unduly dealing with shop goods worth up to $150.
No pleas have been entered.
However her defence lawyer said shortly before his arrival at the court Ms Marshall “sent... a text saying she’d gone to hospital to have her baby”.
The court heard her lawyer tried to reach her in the hope she could appear by phone while in the maternity ward but he could not reach her.
“She was due on the fifth (of August),” the court was told.
Ms Marshall’s sentencing was rescheduled to August 5, with the court told she would be entering guilty pleas on the date.
