Scott James Brough charged for unlawfully entering Puma Station

A 23-year-old man who was allegedly spotted fleeing the scene of a highway service station break-in has been charged.

A 23-year-old man will face Gympie Magistrate Court after he allegedly broke into the Puma Energy service station at Kybong.

Scott James Brough is charged with entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

In a statement on Thursday, police said they first received a notice from a security provider at 1:22am on June 9.

Alarms had been activated at the business on the Old Bruce Highway near Gympie.

Police were later informed that a person was allegedly spotted inside before crossing the roof, jumping off the building and running into nearby farmland.

According to the statement, police searched the area and when they found Mr Brough, he allegedly provided a false name but the Gympie Times has since confirmed his full name.

Mr Brough was charged with unlawful entry, contravene direction or requirement and failure to appear in accordance with an undertaking.

His bail application was denied on June 9 and will appear in Gympie Magistrate Court on August 23, 2022.
