The one time home of Gympie’s long-gone private hospital is the headline attraction of a number of businesses on the open market, including several motels.
The hospital on Channon St in the heart of the city’s “health” precinct was closed in February 2019, and the property is now being sold by commercial real estate agents JLL and Cashman and Wakefield.
No price is listed, but CoreLogic’s RP data shows it fetched $6.93m when last sold in 2015 to the Trust Company (Australia).
Private health care group Healthe Care hold a lease on the building until 2030.
Since the hospital's closure the building has accommodated a mental health service.
The hospital is being sold individually and as part of a nationwide portfolio of nine medical facilities.
This group includes the Chermside Medical Complex, the Mackay Private Hospital, IPN Logan Central and IPN Forest Lake.
It is not the only building occupied by a community service on the market.
The home of Gympie’s Transport and Main Roads branch in River Rd is for sale through CBRE Sunshine Coast.
TMR holds a lease on part of the building, with the rest of the office space up for grabs.
The building was last sold in 2003, for $4.5m, RP Data records show.
Gympie’s newest service station is also on the market for expressions of interest.
The centre at the corner of Pine St and the Bruce Hwy opened in 2021. It has Mobil entrenched as a tenant until at least 2036; an option exists to extend that to 2056.
It is not the only property for sale in that vicinity.
The Nationwide Motel, one block north of the service station, is on the market with motel sales specialists Tourism Brokers for $2.1m.
The 21-room motel has sold four times in its more than 30-year history, the last time in 2017.
Another motel is on the market in the region’s east; the Rainbow Sands Resort is for sale with Century 21 carrying a $5.2m price tag.
The resort can be run as 24-motel rooms or 12 units and has a large pool and spa in the complex.
RP Data records show the property has not changed hands since 2000, when it was sold for $160,000.
South of Gympie, the home of popular craft business Lincraft is on the market with SP Commercial carrying a price tag of $3.4m plus GST.
Lincraft is a tenant at the building.
