Criminals have targeted another Gympie region business with police investigating a night time robbery of a popular Bruce Hwy spot.

Police are investigating the night-time burglary of a popular Shell Coles Express service station on the Bruce Hwy at Gympie in the latest crime against businesses in the region.
Officers said in a statement Wednesday the offenders struck the shop, near Gympie Central Shopping Centre and the intersection with the highway and Excelsior Rd, about 9.45pm Monday.
They said initial investigations showed the person entering the service station and demanding cash and tobacco products.
They then fled on foot.
No-one was injured in the incident, and the investigations are ongoing.
The service station is the latest business to be targeted in the region, and comes amid a growing call from business owners and community leaders for a greater police presence in the region.
Watsons Marine owner Christine Jamieson said her business had lost about $100,000 in stock across the past two years to thieves, including a boat and trailer and fire extinguisher.
Pacific Gympie manager Joel Reeman said his car dealership, up the road from Watsons Marines, has had several number plates stolen from it within the past six months.
Gympie MP Tony Perrett raised these concerns in state parliament on May 11, telling the assemble business owners were “fed up” with being targeted by offenders.
His plea follows other high profile crimes at city shops in 2023, including the heist of thousands of dollars of stock from Toyworld in February and a vape shop and chiropractor’s office were destroyed in an arson attack in March.
Investigations are ongoing into these two crimes.
