Kerri Michelle Wolfin, 46, appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court accused of using a carrier service in a menacing, harassing or threatening way.

Ms Wolfin, who entered the court holding a rag over her mouth, got off on the wrong foot with Magistrate Chris Callaghan when she asked why she had to wear a mask.

“Because that’s the law,” Mr Callaghan said.

“So we just do something with no reason?” Ms Wolfin said.

“Why do you think we all drive on the left side of the road? Because it’s the law” Mr Callaghan replied.

Ms Wolfin then took a mask offered by courthouse staff, while saying Mr Callaghan did not understand what it was like “trying to deal with being a woman and having periods”.

She then told the court she was representing herself as “I don’t like middle men”.

Things deteriorated further when Ms Wolfin did not stop talking as Mr Callaghan read out the charge and asked how she was pleading.

“Can you not speak while I’m speaking, madam?” he asked.

“I don’t what the charge is,” she said.

“Listen and you will know what it is,” Mr Callaghan replied.

Ms Wolfin continued speaking over Mr Callaghan, who said she was “trying to mess with the court’s processes” and threatened to have her locked up.

“That’s what’s going to happen if you keep talking while I’m talking,” he said.

Police prosecutor Vicki Kennedy-Grills told the court Ms Wolfin had let a unit at Rainbow Shores to the complainant, a 53-year-old woman, in the middle of 2021.

No receipt was given to the tenant at the time, and on November 17, the complainant asked if she could be given it.

In response, Ms Wolfin allegedly told the woman to leave the unit within 24 hours.

In the following days she allegedly tagged the woman in a series of “harassing” and “offensive” posts, telling the woman to “go back to your family” in Victoria, calling her a “disgrace to women” and a “nasty, disgusting, filthy, putrid piece of crap”.

Gympie magistrate Chris Callaghan told Kerri Wolfin to “get your mask on and get out” after she continued trying to discuss the matter for several minutes after the proceedings were adjourned.

Ms Wolfin continued speaking over the top of Sgt Kennedy-Grills and disputing the alleged facts, drawing another request from Mr Callaghan to shut up.

“I gave you a direction, did it not reach your brain?” he said.

Ms Wolfin then told the court she had written the messages “hoping they would be motivational”.

Mr Callaghan promptly adjourned the matter, saying he did not accept Ms Wolfin’s guilty plea and ordering a brief of evidence be produced.

Following the adjournment, Ms Wolfin stayed in the court for several minutes continuing to talk with Sgt Kennedy-Grills and Mr Callaghan until he finally told her to “get your mask on and get out”.

The matter has been adjourned until a later date.
