A Caloundra man accused of stealing a woman’s car while car while armed with a knife outside a popular children’s skate park will spend Christmas in custody after losing his bid for bail.
Jaydon Lee George, along with two unnamed teenagers, has been accused of approaching the 19-year-old woman in her Toyota Echo at the Gympie skate park near the centre of town about 9.10pm on Tuesday December 15.
Police alleged Mr George reached through the open driver’s side window, took the keys from the ignition and demanded the woman get out of the car.

The woman was not hurt in the incident.
Mr George has been charged with a string of offences including armed robbery while in company, possessing a knife in a public place, and eight counts of breaching bail.
The 21-year-old sat quietly in the Gympie Magistrates Court dock on Tuesday while his lawyer argued for his release on bail, saying there were “some issues with the strength of the crown’s case”.
These included the presence of face tattoos on the person identified as the accused robber, which Mr George did not have.
Police prosecutor Vikki Kennedy-Grills objected to the bail bid saying police had concerns about the address Mr George had nominated to live at.
Sergeant Kennedy-Grills said the people at the nominated address were not direct relatives.
When police had visited the address to make inquiries, she told the court, the property appeared to be a place regularly used by residents.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan ultimately rejected Mr George’s application saying it appeared there was a “strong crown case against him”.
This was due to the discovery of a knife “similar” to that allegedly used, and the keys to the victim’s car in his possession.
Repeatedly failing to appear at previous court appearances did not help Mr George’s case either.
“He just hasn’t taken his obligations … seriously,” Mr Callaghan said.
Mr George will return to Gympie Magistrates Court on February 13, 2023.
