A Gympie carpenter busted retrieving some of his personal items from a car that had been towed to a car yard was sentenced to 80 hours community service on Monday, April 8.
On March 16, CCTV captured Daniel Curtis Bryers jumping the fence of a car yard, and removing items from a Nissan Navara.
Police found Bryers covered in sweat and grass stains, holding some of the retrieved items and with a glass crack pipe in his pocket and less than a gram of meth.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday to trespass, and possession of dangerous drugs and a drug-related utensil.
The court heard a friend had lent the Navara to Bryers.
The car was towed with about $1000 worth of his tools inside it, which he was retrieving during this incident.

Lawyer Lauren Nightingale said Bryers “accepts it was a stupid thing to do”.
Magistrate Bevan Hughes called Bryers’ actions “brazen”, given the high security of car yards.
He said society needed carpenters at the moment, and Bryers has “a lot to offer the community”.
The defendant has a history of serious drug charges, and Mr Hughes said “you don’t want to slip back into old ways”.
Bryers was sentenced to 80 hours unpaid community service.
