Carpenter done for drink driving after beers with friends

A few beers with friends ended badly for a Gympie carpenter who was stopped by police afterwards, and blew just over the legal limit.
Tyronne John Spencer, 31, was pulled over at Cox Road, just off the Mary Valley Highway, at 11pm on Sunday, April 18.
The court heard he recorded a blood alcohol reading of .063 percent.
Spencer’s lawyer told the court the Palms resident “had a few friends over for a couple of beers” that night.
Before getting behind the wheel Spencer had not had anything to drink for 30 minutes and “thought he was okay to drive”, the court heard.
Magistrate Kurt Fowler told Spencer his traffic history, which did not include any offences similar to drink driving, was not good.
However he noted, unlike previous offences he had been picked up for, this time there were “small mercies” to be found.
“At least he had a licence this time,” Mr Fowler said.
“Baby steps.”
He accepted Spencer’s guilty plea, fined him $600 and disqualified him from driving for one month.
