Exciting times are ahead for the skate shop Flipside Skate and Ride, with sale stock flying off the shelves of their temporary pop-up in Gympie Central Shopping Centre.
Co-owner Kylie Bishop said the shop was forced to move from Mary St to Gympie Central as a result of water damage to the building and they were unable to continue trading there.
“We were in a bit of a predicament, so we had to close the doors,” Mrs Bishop said.

The Flipside team will operate their pop-up until the end of August and are running a massive clearance sale, with “hundreds” of shoes, bikes, boards and scooters up for grabs.
Mrs Bishop said Flipside’s stock will then be found at the Flipside Farm warehouse and through their online store for a period of time before their relocation.
“(The new shop) will be a brand new building and in between this time and the new building relaunch in six months we’re just going to hit it hard online,” she said.
“We’re not closing down, we are purely transitioning.”

Mrs Bishop said the location of the new store will remain a surprise until all the details are finalised, but she is “excited” for the future ahead.
“It is pretty cool what the future holds for us, we’ve had heaps of local community support as well,” she said.
In the meantime, Mrs Bishop said she will be focusing on increasing their online presence and Instagram following by travelling to regional areas with pop-ups.
“We are going to do some pop-ups at the (Gympie) skate park with the tent on the weekend,” she said.
Mrs Bishop said Gympie residents should keep an eye out on Flipside’s social media pages for the announcement on the relaunch next year.
“We will be doing prize giveaways, with new decks and apparel being released soon,” she said.
“We will have a pop-up at Christmas in Central as well.”
