A GoFundMe page has been started to raise emergency funds for a Gympie family after fire tore through their almost century-old home on Horseshoe Bend on Tuesday night, destroying all their belongings.

Savage Gym Boxing Centre has also pulled together support for the family with raffle proceeds going to the family and calling their members to provide any practical items.

“We would like to support one of our members whose family just lost everything to a house fire. Any practical items you can provide would be amazing,” Alicia Hawkins wrote in the facebook post.

“We also have a $100 Mitre 10 gift voucher to raffle for $5 a ticket with all proceeds going to the family.”

This comes a day after a GoFundMe page was started to help the family get back on their feet.

The mother, her two boys and their family dog were left homeless with “nothing but the clothes on their back,” the GoFundMe page said.

The appeal aims to raise $50,000 to get the “family back on their feet,” and was set up by Breanna Thornley.

“They lost everything,” she said.

“Due to this they are now homeless and have nothing but the clothes on their back. Please donate anything you can to try and get this family back on their feet. Anything would be appreciated.”

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said they received the call at 2am on Wednesday and three fire crews, including a senior officer, rushed to the scene.

The two-storey building was a timber residential home circa 1930s, with an iron roof at the corner of Ferguson Street and Horseshoe Bend opposite Davies Furniture store.

The roof was completely engulfed by the fire.

The family of three inside were assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.

Crews were well in action by 2.45am and by 3.15am, the fire was out and firemen focused on dampening the timber structure down, the QFES spokesperson said.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said on Friday the the fire was not suspicious and was likely caused by electricity.
