A new clothing store will open in Imbil this weekend, July 6, after relocating from its home of 16 years in Kenilworth.

The premises of Toni Gitsham’s Affordable on Elizabeth clothing store needs a desperate repair costing much money and taking a long time to complete.

Ms Gitsham, 64, said on Wednesday Imbil was starting to boom and that she already had many customers from the Imbil and Gympie areas who travelled to Kenilworth to visit her store, so now she would be closer.

“I’m moving to Imbil because the building in Kenilworth needs desperate repair which is going to cost a lot of money from the owner and it will take a while,” she said.

“I’m going to keep the same business name (Affordable on Elizabeth) even though I’m moving to Imbil.

“I’m looking forward to opening my business in Imbil in a shop that doesn’t leak, a new premises for a change and a good place as Imbil is starting to boom.”

The Imbil community has welcomed the move.

“Already the responses has been amazing from the Imbil community, they are really thrilled to have me over there. I used to have a lot of customers from Gympie and Imbil who come out to Kenilworth on regular basis to buy from me and they are so ecstatic because they say that’s so good,” Ms Gitsham said.

“I sell the Thomas Cook boots and clothing, hats, belts, western clothes and good jewellery as well as Australian art works,” she said

Ms Gitsham’s husband is also a businessman, and runs a butcher shop in Pomona called Gitsham Prime Foods.

“I started my first job in 1974 and this is my fiftieth year in retail,” she said.

“I started in the Darling Downs, Dalby and Toowoomba and I have been 20 years in the Sunshine Coast.

“I have been running my business for 16 years now and I just want to be the most successful in my field, and continue to offer a friendly service to all my customers and clients, and continue with what I’m really passionate about.”
