On June 20, 2020, around 10pm, Gill was videoed driving his black Holden ute with no number plates on Landing Road in Yarwun.

With a passenger in the car, Gill performed multiple burnouts and donuts while a large group of bystanders filmed his actions on their phones in close proximity to the car.

In one of the videos Gill’s hooning interrupted the flow of traffic on the road, used for heavy industry vehicles, when a truck had to steer around his car and through heavy smoke.

In another, Gill did burnouts and donuts while his tyres were running on their steel belts which scattered sparks and debris across the road.

Acting Magistrate Leanne Scoines said Gill treated a public road like his own private playground.

“It looked like you were treating it as your space and you were doing with it whatever you pleased,” Ms Scoines said.

“Sadly, there were a number of bystanders filming your actions and it was really concerning how close you came to some of those people.

“This is just outrageous conduct, these are hooning offences at their worst.”

Gill was convicted and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with an immediate parole release.

He was also disqualified from driving for two years on each offence, with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to determine whether the suspensions are to be served cumulatively or concurrently.
