Four drug offenders appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court earlier this week and pleaded guilty to various offences. Read the facts here:

Four drug offenders faced Gladstone Magistrates Court earlier this week and pleaded guilty to various offences from possession to drug driving.

Mason-Jay David Graham Edwards, 20

Mason-Jay David Graham Edwards, 20, pleaded guilty on Monday to riding a bicycle while U. I. L and failing to wear a helmet.

Mason-Jay David Graham Edwards, 20, pleaded guilty on Monday to riding a bicycle while under the influence of drugs and failing to wear a helmet.

A court heard Edwards was intercepted by police on Ann Street, South Gladstone at 7.20pm on October 29, 2021 riding a bike without a helmet.

After being booked for the offence, officers noticed Edwards had severely dilated pupils, had difficulty keeping conversation and had delayed reactions.

When questioned, Edwards admitted to smoking ‘cones’ prior to riding the bike.

He was taken to Gladstone hospital for a blood test because of his condition, with a positive indication for marijuana being returned. He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Edwards was convicted and fined $440 and convictions were recorded.

Trevor Michael Smith, 45

Trevor Michael Smith, 45, pleaded guilty on Monday to possessing dangerous drugs and possession of a knife in a public place.

A court heard Smith was intercepted by police driving on Gladstone Benaraby Road, Toolooa, around 8pm, on September 8, 2021.

A search of Smith’s car revealed two films of Suboxone, with each containing 8mg of buprenorphine.

When questioned, Smith said he had been prescribed them by a Brisbane doctor six weeks again and had been issued 28 films.

Police also located a large hunting knife in a sheath underneath Smith’s seat.

When questioned about the knife, Smith said he had taken it to his work building roads as the area he was working in was known for dangerous wildlife.

Smith further stated he had been home from work for some time and had not left the knife at home when he had the chance.

He told police the knife was concealed under the seat because he thought that was the safest place to keep it. He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Smith was convicted and placed on a four-month good behaviour bond with a $400 recognisance.

Callum David Williamson, 28

Callum David Williamson, 28, pleaded guilty on Monday to drug driving in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

A court heard Williamson, who was driving a blue Toyota Hilux, was intercepted by police on Dixon Drive in Telina at 2.42pm on November 29, 2021.

Police database checks on Williamson’s licence revealed it had expired on October 10, 2021.

Williamson submitted to a roadside drug test which returned a positive indication for a relevant drug and he was detained for further testing.

When questioned by police regarding any recent drug use, Williamson said he had been prescribed medicinal marijuana and had taken the medication the previous night.

Williamson’s second test provided his second positive indication for a relevant drug of the afternoon and he was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Police laboratory analysis revealed the drug in Williamson’s system at the time was marijuana.

Williamson was convicted and fined $300 and suspended from driving for three months. A conviction was recorded.

Scott Anthony Ford, 43

Scott Anthony Ford, 43, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to drug driving.

A court heard that on December 3, around 11.51am, police intercepted a black Grey Wall ute on Gladstone Mount Larcom Road, Aldoga for a traffic offence.

Ford submitted to a roadside drug test which returned a positive indication for a relevant drug and he was moved to a police car for further testing.

When questioned about his drug use that day, Ford made admissions to using the relevant drug two days prior to being stopped by police.

Ford’s second test returned another positive indication and he was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Police laboratory analysis revealed the drug in Ford’s system at the time was marijuana.

Ford was convicted and fined $350 and suspended from driving for three months. A conviction was recorded.
