A man who threatened to kill staff and security at a Central Queensland hospital before being tasered by police, has been sentenced.

Jordan Tyson Wilson, 22, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to charges including using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend, public nuisance and obstructing police.

The court heard that on June 17, Wilson sent a woman a message on Facebook Messenger saying “coming for you mate, ever heard of The Rebels? We’re tied in with ‘em, I’m a have them chat to you about your threats to bash me. We’re high ranking members so if you talk sh-- to ‘em, they’ll just cap you and bury you.”

The court heard Wilson, when questioned by police, said he didn’t mean what he said and he was just upset in the heat of the moment.

Then on July 6, Wilson committed the public nuisance and obstruct police offences.

At 1.15am on that day, he was at Gladstone Hospital.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Jessica McLaren said while Wilson was at the hospital, he became abusive towards staff.

“He threatened to kill nursing staff and security before leaving on foot,” Snr Const McLaren said.

“He walked towards a business on Dawson Highway - while walking, he continued to make threats towards security which was on hospital grounds.”

The court heard police had to physically restrain Wilson who obstructed them by “pushing away” and raising his fist.

A police officer then deployed a taser on Wilson.

Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Wilson was currently unemployed, having previously worked as an automotive mechanic.

She said he suffered from bipolar and chronic depression, and was on anti-psychotic medication.

Ms Wieland said at the time of the offences, Wilson was using drugs and struggling with his mental health.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Wilson $300 and no conviction was recorded.
