A woman sobbed in a holding cell as she was jailed for 12 charges in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday.

Jessica Ann Whickham pleaded guilty to eight breaches of bail condition, two counts of public nuisance, trespass and obstructing a police officer in a public place while adversely affected.

Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd outlined Whickham’s offending, the worst of which occurred on February 27, around 3pm.

At that time Whickham was walking on a footpath close to Lions Park, Kin Kora.

On the same footpath was a couple with three children, who observed Whickham to be stumbling and highly intoxicated by the family.

Whickham then stated to the couple something to the effect of, “What a nice family you have. It would be ashamed (sic) if something happened to them”.

Whickham’s statement scared the children who ran to their parents’ side.

Whickham continued walking from Lions Park to Beak Street where, a short time later, she was jumping from the footpath onto the road in from of vehicles.

This caused multiple drivers to brake heavily and swerve to avoid a collision with Whickham and other vehicles.

Acting Magistrate John Milburn convicted and sentenced Whickham to four months imprisonment, however, set a parole release date of September 9, 2021. Convictions were recorded.
