Gladstone drug utensil possession wrap: Full list of offenders

From glass pipes to electric grinders, these are the men and women busted with dangerous drug utensils in Gladstone.

Every week, many men and women face the Gladstone Magistrates Court after being caught in possession of dangerous drug utensils.

Gabriel Gene Carlton Grant, 25, pleaded guilty to two drug utensil possession charges in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday.

On July 10, around 2.15pm, police intercepted Grant driving a Toyota ute on Fingerboard Road, Mount Tom after they detected him speeding.

Police spoke to Grant, who was very nervous and uncontrollably shaking, who said he was travelling back to Gladstone and was driving his supervisor’s car.

Police detained Grant for a search and when asked if there was anything in the vehicle Grant paused, before answering “there shouldn’t be”.

Police found a small bag on the back seat and Grant immediately said, “there is a bong in there”.

Police opened the bag and found a small plastic bottle with an added cone piece which contained burnt cannabis residue.

Police searched a suitcase on the back seat and opened it, which revealed an electric grinder which contained cannabis residue.

While looking underneath some clothing police also located a small glass jar with cannabis residue inside.

Grant stated the jar contained cannabis, however, he had used the grinder to grind the cannabis the night before, before smoking it with the water pipe.

Police seized the items and issued Grant a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Grant $800. No convictions were recorded.

Richards pleaded guilty on Monday, August 23, to possessing utensils or pipes that had been used and possessing utensils or pipes for use.

On June 28, around 12.15pm, police executed a search warrant on an Aquarius Street address in Clinton.

Richards was detained and stated there was a glass pipe and bong in her house.

Police conducted their search and found a glass pipe with scorch marks on the bottom and a home made water pipe with burnt cannabis residue.

Richards was questioned in relation to the items and stated they were both hers and she used them to smoke ice and cannabis.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey ordered Richards attend drug diversion and placed her on a six month good behaviour order with a $200 recognisance. She escaped convictions.

Police executed a search warrant on Lindley’s Hampton Drive address in Tannum Sands at 7.05am on July 21.

A search of the garage was conducted and a number of drug related items were located including two clip sealed bags, a plastic container and a timber bowl containing marijuana. The total weight was 7.6 grams.

A used plastic water pipe with brass cone piece on a small white shelving unit, a used electric grinder and a used glass pipe with white residue were also located in a timber shelving unit.

Lindley admitted he owned the bong and pipe, saying he used both utensils to smoke cannabis.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Lindley $900. No conviction recorded.
