A combination of homelessness, couch surfing and being in a bad relationship led to a young Gladstone woman breaching probation, a court has heard.
Ellie Jay Jenvey, 22, was re-sentenced in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 21 for contravening her probation order.
The court heard that Jenvey had been placed on probation after being convicted of charges including drug-driving and driving while court disqualified.
It was told that her compliance with probation was “poor” and she had failed to report as required on eight occasions.
A solicitor said Jenvey had a “very sketchy” history over the past four years which included homelessness, predominantly couch surfing, and being in a bad relationship.
The solicitor said Jenvey was no longer in that relationship, her work history was “sporadic”, and she now had stable accommodation at Tannum Sands.
The solicitor said Jenvey was “very embarrassed” to be back before the court and he submitted she be given “one final chance” on probation.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan revoked the probation order and fined Jenvey $250.
Ms Buchanan re-sentenced Jenvey to 12 months’ probation and a conviction was recorded.
