Aodhan Rory Mccann, 32, pleaded guilty to drink driving in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday.

On August 5, around midnight, Gladstone police attended the scene of a car accident which involved a damaged fence on Park Street, West Gladstone.

Police spoke to Mccann who said he was the driver of the car at the time of the accident and he simply misjudged the intersection and could not stop in time.

Mccann, who had red eyes and slowed speech, told police he had consumed several drinks during a session which started at 4pm that afternoon.

He further stated he consumed four or five drinks in total which included a couple of beers and bourbon.

A breath test revealed Mccann had a blood-alcohol concentration of .153 per cent.

Mccann’s lawyer Cassandra Ditchfield said her client had gone back to fix the damaged fence the morning after the accident occurred.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Mccann $2000 and suspended him from driving for six months.
