Charges against a mother and son who survived an alleged murder-suicide pact which claimed the life of her other son and his brother, have progressed through the courts following long delays.

It comes two years after police were greeted by gruesome scenes at a Central Queensland home on the Easter long weekend in 2022.

Alex William Forrest, 20, and his mother Lee-Ann Rae Forrest, 50, have been charged with murder of Cameron Paul Forrest, 24.

Police at the time described the scene in Blaxland Court, Glen Eden, on April 17 as “horrific”.

This publication made inquiries about the progress of the pair’s murder charges and can reveal Ms Forrest has a committal hearing scheduled in the Gladstone Magistrate Court in July, 2024.

Mr Forrest was previously committed to the Supreme Court by the Gladstone Magistrates Court in February 2024 and the Department of Public Prosecutions was given six months to present the murder charge to the Supreme Court.

An affidavit prepared by police in Mr Forrest’s proceedings outlined the allegations and why police would object to bail if he were to make an application.

The document states that while being treated in hospital after the alleged murder, Ms Forrest allegedly told police “she channelled the Archangel Michael and that the Archangel Michael stabbed Cameron”.

She had called Queensland Ambulance Service on April 17 about 12.45pm and when they attended, they called police.

The document further alleged that when police arrived, Ms Forrest presented herself to them with “outstretched arms by her body showing wounds to both wrists”.

Police located Cameron deceased, lying on a bed in the rear bedroom.

According to the court documents he had “significant lacerations to both wrists, his throat and multiple stab-like wounds to his chest”.

Police allege Alex Forrest was found inside and he had difficulty breathing along with significant lacerations to both of his wrists and that officers found a bloodstained hunting knife in the kitchen sink.

Both Alex and Lee-Ann Forrest were transported to Gladstone Hospital.

Police also allege that during an interview with investigators, Mr Forrest allegedly claimed his mother had gathered him and his brother in his brother’s room on April 16 and they all spoke about their lack of a future due to financial difficulties and the likelihood of World War 3, and she convinced them they should all kill themselves.

He allegedly claimed Ms Forrest mixed up paracetamol and gave what she thought would be an overdose to Cameron, however, it just made him feel ill.

According to the court documents Mr Forrest allegedly told police he and his mother then spent the next 24 hours harming themselves but failed to end their own lives.

Both are remanded in custody.
