When locking up his car, police noticed a lump in the man’s rear of his board shorts, but that wasn’t their only down-the-pants find that day

A pipe tucked down a man’s pants wasn’t the only dodgy down-the-pants find for officers that day.

When told he would be searched in the privacy of the police station, Troy Matthew William O’Sullivan reached into his pants a pulled a pipe from his groin area.

It was the second down-the-pants discovery for police that day after O’Sullivan also removed a sunglass case filled with meth from the rear of his boardshorts.

The Kilkivan man was initially busted drug driving, but it was when O’Sullivan was securing his vehicle that officers began unravelling what was in the man’s jocks.

Police prosecutor sergeant Narelle Lowe told the Gatton Court police noticed a lump in the rear of the man’s boardshorts.

“He tried to conceal this by moving back into the car door,” she said.

Officers asked O’Sullivan what he was hiding and the 41-year-old pulled out a sunglass case containing .336g of meth in a clip seal bag.

At the Toowoomba Police Station on April 4, officers told O’Sullivan he would be further searched.

That’s when he pulled a pipe from the groin area of his shorts, saying he “knew it was an offence to possess these items”, Sergeant Lowe said.

O’Sullivan, on June 28, told the court he had no excuse for what he had done.

“My brother committed suicide and I went through a rough patch … I lost my job,” he said.

“I just made bad choice after bad choice and there’s no excuse for that.”

O’Sullivan told the court he had since gained full-time employment at Quinalow.

He pleaded guilty to drug driving, possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing utensils or pipes.

O’Sullivan was fined $850 and disqualified from driving for three months.

A conviction was recorded.
