The owner of a uniform business says she’s relieved nobody was seriously injured after a ute crashed into the John St building on Monday.

Bini Edathadan was shocked when she received a phone call about the two-car crash, which sent one of the vehicles through the shop wall on Monday night.

The call prompted a late drive from Hervey Bay to Sauers Uniforms in Maryborough to inspect the damage.

Despite the crash, the store was open for business on Tuesday morning.

“I’ve had a night to process it all,” Ms Edathadan told the Chronicle, adding there was still a daunting clean up effort ahead, as well as work with the insurance company to get the building fixed.

She was relieved the crash happened after hours and no staff members or customers were hurt.

She was also glad the driver of the vehicle had not suffered any injuries.

“That was my first concern,” she said.

Police are now investigating the crash.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Rescue said crews were called to the scene at John St about 6pm.

After the collision, one had smashed into the shopfront at Sauers Uniforms.

She said there were no entrapments, but crews were required to check on the stability of the building, which was judged to be structurally sound.

The scene was then left in the hands of police.

Paramedics were also called to the scene, but a spokesman from the Queensland Ambulance Service said there were no injuries as a result of the crash.

Eye witness Luke Wyatt said he offered to help the owners with the clean up after the vehicle was pulled clear of the store, but was told they were able to manage it.
