Herries Street Traffic Crash

The value of seatbelts was on full display when a motorist walked away from a CBD crash uninjured despite the force of the collision knocking a vehicle on its side.

Dashcam footage of the incident shows a white wagon running a red light was travelling east on Herries Street about 8.30am on June 1.

The driving error occurs just as a second wagon crosses the intersection on Clifford Street resulting in the first vehicle clipping its rear driver’s side panel.

The forces of collision caused the second vehicle to roll on its side.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a Harristown man aged in his 70s was issued a traffic infringement notice for failing to stop at a red light.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed two people at the scene.

One driver declined an offer to be transported to the Toowoomba Hospital while the second, a man aged in his 70s, was hospitalised with hip pain.

Authorities could not confirm if it was the same man who was issued with the fine. .
