Revealed: The plan that will shape the future of Burrum Heads

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has endorsed a plan that aims to maintain the township’s relaxed coastal lifestyle and outlines a number of projects that the community would like to see developed: See what some of them are.

A plan is in place to keep the Fraser Coast lifestyle relaxed, small and coastal.

A plan to maintain Burrum Heads’ relaxed coastal lifestyle has been endorsed by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

The Burrum Heads Community Plan includes the creation of an annual festival, establishing a neighbourhood centre and a community precinct.

The plan would also include organising a monthly bus service for elderly and disabled residents to reduce social isolation, while developing a network of cycling and walking trails across the Coast.

Fostering the environment, beaches, waterways, and coastal infrastructure is a “high priority”.

Cr James Hansen backed the importance of keeping the Fraser Coast lifestyle.

Councillor James Hansen added that maintaining a “relaxed, small coastal community” was too.

“The plan is the culmination of a large body of community engagement,” Cr Hansen said.

“It is the culmination of significant work by Burrum Heads, residents, Council officers and staff from various government departments ... (and) outlines a number of projects that the community would like to see developed.

“Now that the community has identified its vision, Council can put those projects forward for funding in future budgets or lobby the state and Australian governments to become involved in projects.”

The Development Group for the Burrum Heads Community Plan will continue to meet as builders develop an action plan, which will identify time frames and key stakeholders to complete projects within the plan.
