JAN and Terry Ward were just looking to retire when they posted information about the sale of their historic Brooklyn House on Facebook last week.
What they did not expect was to become the region's latest viral sensation.
"Offering $2000 to a person who shares this post which leads to the sale of Brooklyn House," the social media post promised.
"Please Share this post for the sale of this amazing 6 bed Queensland Mansion near the beautiful beaches of Hervey Bay."
But, 111-word post has captured the imagination of those across the globe with more than 5,500 shares of the post and more than 194,000 hits, as at about midday Monday.
The pair were not prepared for what a simple Facebook post could do.
"It just went crazy," Jan said.
Mrs Ward said since the post had gone viral the pair had a number of offers but it was too early to determine if they were serious.
The home was built in 1890 and was originally owned by the father of the first Australian woman to become a senator, Dame Annabelle Rankin.
