A man is in a serious condition and two others suffered injuries after a two-car smash at Walligan, the latest in what has been a horror Easter long weekend on Fraser Coast roads.
This comes less than 24 hours after a 39-year-old woman died on Sunday night in a terrible crash allegedly involving a stolen car.
Emergency crews were called to the Honeyeater Drive and Torbanlea Pialba Rd intersection following reports of the crash just before 2pm Monday.
Sergeant Kym Lynch said the driver of a blue sedan allegedly failed to give way at the intersection and went “into the path of a white station wagon sedan and caused a T-bone collision.”
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service worked to free a man in his 20s who was trapped in one of the vehicles.
“It was very difficult, the door had pushed into the driver, making it hard for us to use our tools to get him out,” Firefighter Jason Mccloskey said.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man was taken to hospital with “hip and head injuries” in a serious condition.
A woman in her 20s and a woman in her 50s were both taken to hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
“It’s been a very busy couple of days for fire and rescue,” Mr Mccloskey said.
Emergency services are urging motorists to “drive to the conditions, the speed limits … slow down, don’t speed and give way at all intersections”, Mr Mccloskey said.
A man has been charged with dangerous driving over a fatal crash after it is alleged a Ford Escape and Mitsubishi Mirage collided on Booral Rd at Sunshine Acres, between Condor and Moorabinda drives, about 10.15pm on March 31.
Earlier that day a man in his 30s died at Maryborough Hospital after he was hit by a truck on the Bruce Highway near the Maryborough Showgrounds about 3.35pm.
More to come.
