Police are hunting a hooded armed robber who held up a tobacconist in Maryborough.
Video released on Thursday of the robbery about 2.30pm on Saturday, January 25, shows a man cloaked in black going into the Kent St business.
In the video, the woman working behind the counter appears to be serving or speaking to another person when the robber walks towards them and pulls the hammer from his backpack.
“He demanded money from the female staff member who complied, before the man left the scene on foot,” police said in a statement on Thursday.
“The woman was not physically injured as a result of the incident.”
The suspect is described as caucasian, with a medium build and was wearing a black hooded jumper, full length black pants and running shoes with a black, red and white backpack.
Anyone who recognises the man in the video or has any further information is urged to contact police.
It’s one of a number of recent alleged crimes where tobacco shops have been targeted here and elsewhere in the state.
Earlier this month, four people were charged after an alleged ram-raid and robbery at Hervey Bay Tobacconist and Gifts in Torquay.
Investigations are also ongoing into two suspicious January fires at a tobacconist in Stanthorpe which damaged a business block and gutted a plumbing store.
