Paramedics across Queensland are being called to e-scooter crashes and falls daily with at least 13 injured this week alone and a string of tragedies including the death of a teen this month. SUBURBS, LATEST.

A string of e-scooter crashes have occurred in the Wide Bay Burnett in the past week, just days after Jacob Lavaring lost his life to a fatal e-scooter accident.
A string of e-scooter crashes have occurred in the Wide Bay Burnett in the past week, just days after Jacob Lavaring lost his life to a fatal e-scooter accident.

Paramedics have been called to two more e-scooter emergencies overnight making at least 13 this week alone.

The latest call-outs were within minutes of each other but at opposite ends of the state with a man in his 30s taken to Mackay hospital with a leg injury following an e-scooter crash on Eaglemount Rd at Beaconsfield about 6.51pm and another man in his 40s taken to Ipswich hospital after an e-scooter crash on Thomas and Mary Streets, Blackstone at 6.22pm.

Both were in stable conditions.

It comes after 27 crashes and falls involving e-scooters (these are reported call outs – it’s understood the number of unreported incidents along with GP and emergency department visits is higher) in Queensland in just 20 days.

The most serious of those resulted in the tragic death of a teenage boy at Bundaberg.

Loved ones of Jakob Lavaring, who tragically died following an e-scooter Bundaberg, are mourning the loss of the 14-year-old who “lit up every room he entered”.
