Police bust woman using phone while driving at Toogoom

When police pulled her over, a woman on the Fraser Coast denied using her phone while driving and claimed officers had mistaken it for a little red book in her hand.
But police weren’t buying it.
Footage obtained by the Fraser Coast Chronicle shows police conducting patrols along Toogoom Road, Toogoom, about 3.10pm on September 19.
Sergeant Josh Churchward can be seen stopping the car, which had been driving in the opposite direction, after he spotted the driver with a red mobile phone to her ear.
The driver denies any use of a mobile phone, telling the little red book story but a search was of the car reveals a red mobile phone on the rear footwell near the centre console with the screen still alight.
A police spokesman said the 38-year-old interstate woman was further questioned, and, as a result, was issued a traffic infringement notice resulting in a $1033 fine and four demerit points.
