HIGH ceilings, open outdoor spaces and strong workmanship have helped GJ Gardner Homes Fraser Coast to take out the state Display Home of the Year.
The business beat 23 other franchises across Queensland to take out the award at a GJ Gardner Homes ceremony in Brisbane last month.
Franchise owner Col O'Brien also received a long service certificate after 21 years with the company.
He began has a chippie before moving up to supervisor and eventually buying the franchise almost four years ago.
Mr O'Brien said he jumped at the chance to buy the franchise as soon as it became available after first beginning with the company in 1992.
He said the winning display home, located in Point Vernon, had been really good for the business since being built about 18 months ago.
Mr O'Brien said he was proud of the workmanship on the home and said its outdoor area and ceiling heights were the highlights.
He said social media had helped to spread the good news about the award.
"We've had a lot of reaction," he said.
