Maryborough man claims $100k Scratch-It win

An afternoon cup of tea and a Scratch-It led to a huge win for one Maryborough man, who has shared what he will buy with his big win.

The winning $5 Mystery Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from IGA Maryborough, 368 Alice Street, Maryborough.

Buying a new Akubra hat is first on the list for a Maryborough man who won $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-It.

The win came while the man was having an afternoon cup of tea and enjoying a scratchie. Speaking to an official from The Lott, the man said he was over the moon with his win and knew exactly how he’d use it.

“It feels bloody wonderful,” he said.

“It’s life-changing for me.

“I’ve got a few things in mind I’d like to do.

“Firstly, buy a new hat. A new Akubra could do me well.

“I’ll be able to travel back overseas too. Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now.

“Then I can put the rest away. It’s just amazing to have that there in case I need it.

“I was even looking at cars. I like my car, I don’t want to buy a new one, but it feels so nice to know that if I did need to, I’d be able to.

“Same goes for anything really. I just feel like it means I don’t have to worry about something going wrong.

“When I scratched the ticket, I couldn’t believe it. I checked it again and again and again.

“It’s just a fun afternoon thing I like to do now and then – sit outside, have a cuppa, and enjoy an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“Particularly the crosswords ones, they’re my favourite.

“Thank you very much. I’m thrilled.”
